Did you ever think about the fact that healthy finances play a major factor in your overall health and well-being? Yes, they most certainly do! The reason being is that when you do not have healthy finances you create an environment marked with worry, anxiety, and just plain misery. (For example in our challenged economic times right now you may be living from paycheck to paycheck or perhaps you have accumulated consumer debt which is putting added pressure on your already tight budget.)
Don’t you want to get out of the rat race?
Believe me, I understand completely!
This environment of stress is quite detrimental to your health. During stressful times blood is diverted from the stomach thus disrupting the normal digestive process and contributing to digestive problems such as bloating, constipation, and irritable bowel syndrome.
In addition, when you worry there are excess stress hormones, adrenaline and cortisol, released in your body which result in a myriad of health challenges such as heightened blood pressure, heart attack, headaches, muscle tension, cancer, insomnia, ulcers, and rheumatoid arthritis.
Another interesting fact is that the actual shape of the blood cells actually changes while under excessive stress. Their function changes as well and they can even die. This results in compromised health which can be an open door for infection and other illnesses.
Is it really worth it?
Unfortunately, these situations may not have been caused necessarily by your own choice such as when someone has an extended illness or injury or is laid off from work. No matter how you come to be in economic challenge or hardship you don’t have to continue on the path that seems eternally hopeless. I’m here to tell you emphatically that there is hope for healthy finances!
As I said earlier, I understand completely about living with economic challenges because my husband was out of work for an extended period of time. We slowly were going deeper and deeper into debt (the bad kind of consumer) since there wasn’t any income coming into the house. (I am a full-time homeschooling mom.) It was almost to the point of losing our house. In fact, we were in pre-foreclosure a number of times throughout that time period and would have lost the house completely if it wasn’t for a dedicated relative. Not everyone has that opportunity. We were blessed.
So even though we were that far down were able to begin rebuilding what was lost with solid financial strategies that continue to make a tremendous difference for our family and our legacy. Healthy finances can be a reality because if we can do it from where we were with bad credit, no savings, or other traditional resources then anyone can do it! Not only will your family thank you but your body will thank you. Put simply healthy finances equate to a naturally healthy lifestyle. One of which brings many benefits including a lack of worry about financial matters. When there’s a strong foundation you don’t have to be anxious when the storms come, and they will, since you’ve got in place a foundation that can stand the test of time.
